Park director moves to DNR.


After 20 years with the city of Ann Arbor, Ron Olson has moved to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is the agency of the state of Michigan charged with maintaining natural resources such as state parks, state forests, and recreation areas.  (DNR See dynamic noise reduction and domain name resolver. ) to become chief of the Parks and Recreation Division, where he is responsible for operations, budgeting, planning and strategic management of the division that includes harbors, state parks and recreation areas, trails, and boating access sites. Olson assumed his new position in January.

Prior to joining the DNR, he served for 20 years as associate city administrator and superintendent of the Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Department, as well as interim city administrator. He also held positions directing parks and recreation agencies in Maryland for 11 years and Indiana for two years. Olson also serves on NRPA's training conference program committee and on the board of regents An independent governing body that oversees a state's public Colleges and Universities.
