Our catechism catechism (kăt`əkĭzəm) [Gr.,=oral instruction], originally oral instruction in religion, later written instruction. Catechisms are usually written in the form of questions and answers.  teaches the importance of an informed conscience; the foundation of that informed conscience is moral formation and the understanding of why the morals are accepted or rejected. Pacatte and I share a common value, that knowledge is good and should not be forbidden. In some cases knowledge should be introduced--in age-appropriate ways--not as bad, but as inappropriate to act upon. This requires trust, conversation, and interaction with young people.

The society in which we live is not bad, although bad things happen. We and our children need to learn how to live in this society. Pacatte seems to ask the question: How many parents are willing to put forth the effort to develop a sound moral foundation within themselves and their children? After this article I hope many more.
