MERCURY INSURANCE GROUP'S new campaign--"Mercury Theory"--features a quirky, humorous premise. Mercury is the 14th-largest U.S. writer of private-passenger auto insurance. The focus of the campaign is to communicate the company's low auto insurance rates. The premise of the commercials is that Dr. D.B. Selwick, a UFO UFO - Unidentified Flying Object

UFO - Unbelievably Fun Object (Megatech RC toy)
UFO - Underwater Flying Object (from the movie 'The Abyss')
UFO - Unfertilized Oocyte
UFO - Unfinished Object
 theorist, is gathering evidence that Mercury's rates are so low because the company is run by alien beings from the planet Mercury.

The campaign features a suite of 10 30-second commercials, as well as an interactive Web site, mercurytheory.com.

The commercials are running on cable and local spots in major markets in Arizona, California, Florida, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Texas and Georgia.
