Paper manufacturing resin.Sartomer Company has announced the commercial availability of its line of styrene sty·rene n. A colorless oily liquid from which polystyrenes, plastics, and synthetic rubber are produced. Also called vinylbenzene. maleic anhydride Maleic anhydride (cis-butenedioic anhydride, toxilic anhydride, dihydro-2,5-dioxofuran) is an organic compound with the formula C4H2O3 (C=OCH=CHC=O2). In its pure state it is a colourless or white solid with an acrid odour. (SMA (1) See SMA connector. (2) (Shared Memory Architecture) See shared video memory. [R]) imide imide /im·ide/ (im´id) any compound containing the bivalent group, dbondNH, to which are attached only acid radicals. im·ide n. resins, a group of multi-functional cationic cationic having qualities dependent on having free cations available. cationic detergents are wetting agents that disrupt or damage cell membranes, denature proteins and inactivate enzymes. additives that impart performance properties during the wet end and paper coating stages of paper manufacturing. In the wet end stage, SMA imide resins aid in sheet formation by serving as process-enhancing flocculants that bond to wet paper fibers, retaining fines, and decreasing linting. During the paper making process, SMA imide resins impart hydrophobicity to the paper sheet due to their high styrene: maleic anhydride ratio (up to 4:1). During the coating process, they impart hydrophobicity to the paper surface reducing the amount of ink that bleeds into the paper for a sharper image and ink jet prints with excellent waterfastness. SMA imides are also used in wood coatings, pigment dispersion, emulsification stabilization, and electronics applications. For more information, contact: 610.594.7360, www.sartomer.com. |
