Paper chase.

The news in the newspaper world is grim. Circulation is down. Shareholders are demanding returns that dailies just can't deliver anymore. Is it possible that the printed page may one day go the way of the stone tablet, with news only available via radio, TV and the Internet? So the Business Journal asks:

Do you read a daily newspaper?

I usually get the Sunday Orange County Register from my father. Until recently I used to read the OC Register about every other day. But my schedule switched around and I can't accommodate reading a paper in the morning. Now I try to read NBC NBC

Times every day. I focus on the front page and the business section but generally get through the whole paper every day. I find it easier to read the newspaper at various points of the day and to focus on critical stories that are on the front page as opposed to reading the transitory news stories on the Times' Web site. This way, I can scan the headlines in the morning and look at the stories and more articles in the evening.

No I don't read a daily newspaper. I get news headlines when I get to the Internet because I work a lot with e-mails. I really don't have the time to sit down and read newspapers. For a while, we were getting the Los Angeles Times but it seemed out of control and overwhelming. If I read news online, I can focus on specific areas. I also catch the 10 or 11 o'clock news and headlines.

I have the Los Angeles Times delivered at home and read it probably three to four times a week. Reading longer articles is much easier in print. If I am at the office or elsewhere, I don't have the time to go to the Internet. The only time I go online for news is when something happens at a local level or my son tells me something that has happened at the community level. Then I look at the Internet and read local newspapers to see if they have mentioned anything.

I read both daily and weekly newspapers that are local and national. I read the Wall Street Journal. I just moved to Los Angeles and started getting the Los Angeles Times at home. I get more in depth news from newspapers and they cover other types of news that other media don't. I like being able to sit on the couch On the Couch is an Australian television program formally broadcast on the Fox Footy Channel and it focuses on the current issues in the AFL. This is now broadcast on Fox Sports after the closure of Fox Footy Channel.

and read the paper because I concentrate better. During the workday, everything is fast-paced and I don't have the time to sit down and read news. With the advent of the Internet more people are going in that direction.
