Homag BAZ 41 Represents Latest in Compact Contour Edgebanding Technology

The work of three to four machines can now be accomplished by one, with improved accuracy and quality. The Homag Optimat BAZ 41, offered by Stiles Machinery Inc., gives manufacturers the ability to efficiently produce contour-edgebanded components. Smaller than its counterparts, the BAZ 20 and 30, but still part of Homag's affordable Optimat line, the BAZ 41 sizes, routs, contours, applies and trims edgebanding, and drills on numerous materials including chipboard, MDF, solid wood and plastics.

The BAZ 41 features a 12 kW liquid-cooled main spindle and 12-position tool changer; laser pod positioning; a console-style table with integrated scrap removal system; 17-spindle vertical drilling block and a 360-degree contour edgeband application unit.

Cut Rite Software Drives Factory of the Future

Cut Rite Modular software streamlines panel sizing and other production operations by linking a Holzma panel saw, Homag edgebander and Weeke CNC machining center. Panel production parameters developed in the office, including sizing and subsequent machining operations like edge treatments, routing and boring, are programmed into Cut Rite. The program optimizes for greatest efficiency, utilizing material costs and machinery time. All manufacturing instructions are then sent to the production equipment by direct network or disk transfer.

As panels are cut on the Holzma saw, a production control or bar code label is produced and applied to each part. When scanned, this label recalls instructions, which manage processing at the Homag edgebander and Weeke CNC machining center.
