In this role, she will have responsibility for the strategy and direction of the Citigroup Foundation. Ms. Flaherty will also take responsibility for Citigroup's Office of Global Volunteerism and Office of Financial Education, in addition to continuing to head Corporate Citizenship and Global Corporate Social Responsibility at Citigroup.

In her new role with the Foundation, Ms. Flaherty will report to Lewis B. Kaden Lewis B. Kaden is the Vice Chairman and Chief Administrative Officer of Citigroup Inc. Prior to joining Citigroup, Mr. Kaden had spent most of his career in academia and working as a high-powered lawyer. , Citigroup Vice Chairman, Chief Administrative Officer A chief administrative officer (CAO) is responsible for administrative management of private, public or governmental corporations. The CAO is one of the highest ranking members of an organization, managing daily operations and usually reporting directly to the chief executive  and Chairman of the Foundation's Board. She will also serve as a member of Citigroup's Management Committee.

During her career at Citigroup, Ms. Flaherty has held both line and staff management functions. She has managed Citibank's New York branch banking business and also served as Citicorp's Senior Human Resources Officer beginning her career at the company in Citibank's International Banking Group. She has served as Director of Corporate Citizenship and head of Citigroup's Global Corporate Social Responsibility since 1996.

In 2006, giving by the Citigroup Foundation rose to more than $92 million. Grants were made in 85 countries and territories, with the Foundation's international grant- making more than doubling from $14 million in 2002 to $37 million in 2006. The Foundation currently supports programs in three key areas: Financial Education, Educating the Next Generation, and Building Communities and Entrepreneurs.
