Palm Beach County Selects Metatomix for Criminal Justice Data Sharing System.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Metatomix Semantic Web-based Solution Facilitates Information Sharing Between Palm Beach County, Florida Law Enforcement Agencies for Improving Communications Flow and Enhancing Public Safety

The new system will extract data from disparate sources, providing the ability to streamline access to data, obtain information in real-time, and share it seamlessly. Patrol officers and detectives will gain an immediate benefit by being able to perform a single query against multiple state and local law enforcement databases.

In addition, we recognize that information sharing across multiple agencies is necessary, so we are considering extending the system to encompass judicial integration."

Palm Beach County's new law enforcement system will provide users with secure, role-based access to information from various municipal law enforcement agency records management systems (RMS) and the State of Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Department of Corrections, and Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The browser-based system will enable users to quickly and easily obtain information from multiple systems through a single sign-on and inquiry mechanism.

The system will ultimately encompass over 50 disparate data sources, providing an integrated countywide criminal justice information system, as well as integration that extends far beyond the borders of Palm Beach County. Neighboring counties and state officials will also contribute to, and benefit from the system, as it grows to become a comprehensive real-time information sharing and collaboration platform, streamlining access to criminal justice information for all users.

One of the most important features of the new system to Palm Beach County is its rapid deployment and ease of installation. "Our IT staff is capable of installing and managing most software suites. Accordingly, we want to use our in-house resources as much as possible rather than relying on vendor support," said Steve Bordelon, Director of the Palm Beach County ISS. "After our team is trained on the new system, they will be able to administer the full system rollout and maintain it going forward. That's a real benefit of this product."
