Pakistan, Turkey Will Never Leave Each Other Stranded: Turkish President.

Islamabad, November 19, 2009 (Frontier Star): President of Turkey Abdullah Gul has aid that ties between turkey and Pakistan were exemplary and the two brotherly countries will never leave each other stranded in times of need. He was speaking to the Pakistan parliamentary delegation currently visiting Turkey which called on him in Ankara on Thursday The Turkish President highlighted that Turkey has always been and will remain a close friend of Pakistan . " Pakistan is going through difficult phase of war against militancy and extremism but it is a great nation and a great country which has ample capacity to rid itself of problems", he added. He said that in addition to political and security-related cooperation between the two brotherly countries, there was a need to increase and strengthen economic and trade cooperation. While talking to the Turkish President, Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker said that friendship between Turkey and Pakistan was time tested and had deep roots in history and culture. He said that that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Turkey and desired to further strengthen them through people-to-people contact and parliamentary ties. He said that Turkey was a strategic partner of Pakistan and would like to diversify its economic relations in all sectors of economy. He appreciated Turkey 's role in combating terrorism and bringing peace in the region. The Members of the delegation briefed the President of the objectives of the visit and conveyed a message of friendship and need for parliamentary support and closer cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey . The Pakistan Parliamentary delegation comprised Mir Jam Mohammad Jamali, Deputy Chairman Senate, Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Members of Senate and National Assembly. This visit was organized by PILDAT for the key members and staff from both the Houses of the Parliament.
