The purpose of this book is to provide the general public with basic information about pain. This volume covers a wide range of pain-related topics in a very brief and general manner. The book is divided into 6 parts. Although each part is rather brief, the book covers an exceptional amount of material. Part I contains general information about pain such as pain theories and treatments, what we know about pain, the differences in pain by gender and age, and roadblocks to pain relief. Part II covers specific types of pain and disorders characterized by pain. The book is well organized, but most of the topics are covered too briefly.
