Scout gives customers a new level of simplicity in sending numeric, voice mail and word messages with easy, single number access. Subscribers can be reached 24-hours a day via operator dispatch, numeric page or voice mail through one, easy-to-remember pager number --eliminating cumbersome Personal Identification Numbers (PINs). The pager telephone number also doubles as the prefix for the customer's Internet e-mail address See Internet address.

With messages as long as 500 characters, Scout delivers more information in a single message. An automatic, error-correcting feature provides an extra measure of assurance and accuracy by automatically correcting garbled messages and re-sending clear, correct messages.

Scout Guaranteed Messaging requires an AccessMate advanced messaging device. The $185 pager, manufactured by Glenayre, is available at all outlets where Scout Guaranteed Messaging is offered. Even with added functionality and features, the device remains as compact as the leading alphanumeric pager on the market today. The AccessMate can also be leased for two years at $7.50 per month or for three years at $6.50 per month.

With service pricing starting as low as $9.95 per month, Scout is comparably priced to traditional alphanumeric paging services. Scout is available at PageMart stores in Austin and San Antonio. PageMart stores are located in Austin at 801 Congress, Suite 350 (800/394-1404) and in San Antonio at 8626 Tesoro Drive, Suite 700 (210/208-5817).
