A new single-color pad printer is ruggedly designed for high repeatability at up to 1350 cycles/hr. It also features smooth operation and quick changeovers. The Aries 60/90 from ITW TransTech, Carol Stream, Ill., has a rigid box-frame design with solid aluminum plates and robust shock absorbers on each end of the pad slide. A linear guide-rail pad-slide mechanism is said to promote smooth and quiet operation, and a pad ram that moves in the y axis provides extended throat depth and promotes operator safety. This unit also enables quick changes between 60-mm and 90-mm ink-cup doctoring modules. All machine control functions can be accessed through the operator control panel with the exception of the cliche and pad-flow controls, which are located on the machine's rear panel.
