Packet transport equipment sales grow 11 percent.


Ethernet transport and services spending up 38 percent over last year.

 has posted its analysis of global second quarter 2006 service provider packet transport equipment sales. 2Q06 grew to $2.2 billion overall, 6 percent over last quarter and 11 percent compared to one year ago.

Legacy transport and servicesare led by Nortel and Alcatel with 21 percent and 17 percent market share respectively. The subscriber services segment is led by Cisco with 44 percent market share, followed by Juniper with 30 percent market share and Redback Red´back`

IP/MPLS core (Internet Protocol/MultiProtocol Label Switching) Refers to a network backbone that uses the IP protocol augmented with MPLS routing. See MPLS.  is led by Cisco and Juniper with 60 percent and 35 percent market share. IP/MPLS IP/MPLS Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching  edge is led by Cisco, Alcatel and Juniper, with 50 percent, 17 percent and 16 percent market share respectively. Combined IP/MPLS platform revenue is led by Cisco, Juniper and Alcatel, with 53 percent, 22 percent and 12 percent market share respectively.
