Packard Bell chooses SoftPEG, CompCore Multimedia Inc.'s industry leading software MPEG player, to provide MPEG capability in its new fall line up.


SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 1995--Packard Bell announced today its licensing of SoftPEG, the industry's most technically advanced software MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs).  player, and its inclusion of SoftPEG in its new, multimedia-focused, personal computer product line.

Designed by CompCore Multimedia Inc., SoftPEG provides full MPEG picture and sound playback through a computer's existing monitor and sound card, without the need for additional hardware.
