PYRAMID TECHNOLOGY NAMES MITCHELL MANDICH VICE PRESIDENT

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Pyramid Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: PYRD) has named Mitchell Mandich as its new vice president for the Americas. Mandich reports directly to Richard H. Lussier, Pyramid president, chairman and chief executive officer. In his new role, Mandich assumes management of Pyramid's sales organization for the Americas, which includes the United States, Canada and Latin America.
Mandich has over 14 years' experience in the computer industry in a variety of sales management positions and brings strong management skills in strategy, planning and sales operations. He began his career at Unisys and, most recently, he was director of sales for Tandem Computer's western region. Mandich holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.A. from San Jose State University.
"Mitch is a very strong addition to our sales management team and to our executive staff," said Lussier. "His strong track record at Tandem and his knowledge of the commercial OLTP market give him the perfect foundation for leadership of our Open Data Center sales effort."
"Pyramid has outstanding relationships with its customers and database partners, and has forged vital strategic partnerships which help poise the company to address customer needs both now and well into the future," said Mandich.
Mandich succeeds Robert Buhl, who recently was appointed as vice president in a new organization which will focus on strategic partnerships. This organization is a key element of the company's Open Data Center strategy announced in October 1992.
Founded in 1981 and headquartered in San Jose, Pyramid Technology Corp. builds and markets the MIServer line of high-availability servers to the open commercial marketplace. Pyramid systems runs the largest UNIX-relational databases in the world, and are based on a symmetric multiprocessor architecture that combines an enhanced UNIX operating system with the RISC processor technology.
