PWC president Lenore Janis said that the organization selected the large downtown exhibit space because, "The rebuilding process has already started in lower Manhattan where projects have been estimated at over $21 billion by 2015.

"Midtown, uptown and in the boroughs, we're also seeing a boom in commercial, retail and residential work. The trade fair reflects this expanding activity."

Guests of honor Carole Sobin, vice president of purchasing with Con Edison, and Joy P. Crichlow, the company's director of supplier diversity, welcomed all. Crichlow noted, "Con Edison is committed to making sure that more qualified minorities, Asian Americans and women are included in all phases of its construction program."

Also reaching out to small and mid-sized companies with its ambitious $13 billion, five-year plan was guest of honor Sharon Greenberger, first woman president of the NYC NYC
