PURE TECH INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF OPERATIONS TO WEST COAST; PURE TECH ENTERS INTO SUPPLY CONTRACT WITH SCHULLER INTERNATIONAL

SOMERSET, N.J., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pure Tech International, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: PURT) today announced the opening of its new recycling facility in Bakersfield, Calif. Pure Tech also announced that it has entered into a long term supply agreement with Schuller International, Inc. under which Pure Tech will supply Schuller with up to 31,000 tons of powdered glass per year on the West Coast.
Mr. Joseph Mastroianni, vice president of Pure Tech said, "With the opening of our new glass recycling plant in California, Pure Tech has expanded its operations into an entirely new region of the country. The new facility is located in a 20,000 square foot building and has processing capacity of 400 tons per day. We are extremely proud and happy to report that the plant is on line and operating efficiently. The Bakersfield plant will produce high quality powdered glass from post-consumer bottles.
Mr. Mastroianni continued, "In August 1992 Pure Tech and

Schuller entered into an agreement for Pure Tech to supply powdered glass to a Schuller East Coast facility. We are pleased that Schuller has recognized our ability to manufacture a quality product at a competitive price. The new Schuller agreement was the impetus for the company's move into California. Our new plant will initially supply powdered glass to the fiberglass market. The plant was designed and constructed utilizing proprietary technology developed at Pure Tech's New Jersey facility and has the ability to process glass for the glass container industry as well. California has existing legislation that mandates minimum recycled content in newly manufactured containers. We fully intend to develop that market and believe that demand for our products will be high."
Simon Sinnreich, chairman of Pure Tech said, "Once again, Pure tech has taken advantage of a unique market opportunity. We are excited about the prospects our presence on the West Coast affords us and we will continue to seek and capitalize on every opportunity available to us."
Pure Tech International, Inc. is engaged in the recycling of post- consumer containers made of aluminum, glass, steel and plastic and in plastic injection molding. Pure Tech operates facilities in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina.
