FACE OFF: National Hockey League National Hockey League (NHL)

Organization of professional North American ice-hockey teams. The league was formed in 1917 by five Canadian teams; the first U.S. team, the Boston Bruins, was added in 1924. It today consists of 30 teams in two conferences and six divisions.
 stars and celebrities will be fighting for a good cause this week. As part of NHL NHL Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, see there  All-Star week, celebrities will face off at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Staples Center in a benefit game to raise money for Hockey's All-Star Kids and ChildrensHospital Los Angeles.

Cuba Gooding Jr., Kiefer Sutherland and Denis Denis, king of Portugal: see Diniz.  Leary are expected on the mixed rosters of celebrities and former NHL stars. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer will captain Bruckheimer's Bad Boys, and producer David E. Kelley will lead Kelley's Heroes.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets or the Staples Center Box Office. Tickets for the lower bowl are $25, which includes free admission to NHL All-Star FANtasy where fans can watch and skate with NHL stars and celebrities before the game. Upper-bowl seats are $10.

Also continuing this week is an online auction to benefit cancer research and children's hospitals. Goalie masks designed and autographed by celebrities such as Britney Spears, Mel Gibson and the cast of NBC's ``The West Wing'' can be bid on through Feb. 4 at www.hockeyfightscancerauction.com
