UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center is seeking volunteers for two Lung Cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell.  Prevention Studies testing drugs that may be effective in preventing the leading cause of cancer death in men and women. Current and former heavy smokers (the equivalent of smoking one pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years or more) may qualify to participate in these studies, which are vital in moving toward finding a cure.
