MUD IN YOUR EYE: Step up to the bar and get a cranberry cocktail or nonchromium 6 cooler and then slap some organic mud on your face at the city's first self-service mud bar located at the Esthete Skin Care Salon in Sherman Oaks.

It's all part of the mud bar's new happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. that salon owner Mohammed Khan is offering on the third Thursday of each month for $15 a person to benefit the American Cancer Society. While you're hunkered over the bar, you get a choice of Moorish mud, seaweed and Indian Ayurvedic herbs-roots-flowers-and-minerals face masks, plus use of the salon's sauna and refreshments.

HEARTFELT FRAGRANCE: Allison Janney of NBC's ``The West Wing'' has created a signature scent called Savoir Faire - a breezy blend of ocean mist mixed with tropical grapefruit and orange blossom - that she's willing to share with fans to help raise funds for the American Heart Association.

Also participating in Reflect.com's Signature Celebrity Scents program are Kristin Davis of HBO's ``Sex and the City,'' who created a sensual musk fragrance she calls Manhattan, and Daisy Fuentes, who selected roses, raspberries and violets for her Wild Flower fragrance.

SCENT OF A WOMAN: ``Aromatherapy'' is a trendy term for using scents to soothe, calm and detoxify us from all of life's traumas, from bad hair days to smog, but Reseda author Tara Fellner gives us the real deal in her latest wellness book, ``Aromatherapy for Lovers: Essential Recipes for Romance'' (Journey Editions/Tuttle Publishing; $14).

Fellner, who has written a number of wellness books, believes that every human being has a unique aroma, which she calls a ``smell print.'' In her book, she says it is as individual as a fingerprint (but more static) and is determined by a variety of factors including genetic makeup, skin type, mood, state of health, diet, medication and weather - which explains why a perfume won't smell the same on everyone. She also says this smell print determines our instinctive response to each other.

In ``Aromatherapy for Lovers'' the author focuses on romantic bonding and shares aromatherapy recipes for everything from massage oils to flower arrangements to food (such as Mediterranean Love Soup that's heavy on the fennel). Also included is a fascinating glossary of terms. In it, she says cinnamon is a warm, spicy scent that appeals to brown-haired males, while bay leaves are confidence-boosters for first dates and the scent of vanilla is known to attract older men. Hmmm...
