PUBLIC FORUM ACCOUNTABILITY.

Re ``Bush insists he expected to find weapons in Iraq'' (Feb. 9):

Everyone should be held accountable for their actions, right? Why, then, do so many people (followers) accept the lie this president has committed which resulted in the deaths of 30,000 innocent people and the 500, and counting, deaths of our finest, not to mention the widespread

destruction of such a historic city and the ancient relics which reside there?

All who supported this action are equally responsible. When President Clinton lied, everyone was in an uproar for lying about his personal life and demanded an impeachment impeachment, formal accusation issued by a legislature against a public official charged with crime or other serious misconduct. In a looser sense the term is sometimes applied also to the trial by the legislature that may follow. . Impeach To accuse; to charge a liability upon; to sue. To dispute, disparage, deny, or contradict; as in to impeach a judgment or decree, or impeach a witness; or as used in the rule that a jury cannot impeach its verdict.  Bush for murder and lying; war is no excuse to kill.

Seen enough

Personally, I'm much more shocked, outraged and disgusted by the boob in the White House than the boob in the Super Bowl. After all, the boob in the Super Bowl never attacked another country for no reason, it hasn't given every dime in the U.S. treasury U.S. Treasury

Created in 1798, the United States Department of the Treasury is the government (Cabinet) department responsible for issuing all Treasury bonds, notes and bills. Some of the government branches operating under the U.S. Treasury umbrella include the IRS, U.S.
to its rich friends, and it hasn't sold out our country to big business. On the other hand, the boob in the White House has done all those things. But the two boobs do have one thing in common: We've all seen enough of them to last us a lifetime.

Are their children dying over in Iraq? I doubt it, but I'm sure they're benefiting from the tax cuts too.

And yes, Saddam is a bad guy, but having his ugly picture on TV is not worth all this.

Should know better

Let's see Let's See was a Canadian television series broadcast on CBC Television between September 6, 1952 to July 4, 1953. The segment, which had a running time of 15 minutes, was a puppet show with a character named Uncle Chichimus (voice of John Conway), which presented each . George Soros George Soros

Born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1930, George Soros is considered by many to be one of the world's greatest investors. A famous hedge fund manager, Soros managed the Quantum Fund, a fund that achieved an average annual return of 30% from 1970-2000.

Every day, leftists from all walks of life rant that ``Bush is a liar.'' And then John Ketchup - er, Kerry - (who, considering what he laid on the line, and who, unlike McAuliffe, Soros, Kennedy et al, should know better) complains about Bush's dirty campaign tactics. Revealing.

Can't afford basic health

Re ``Facts all wrong'' (Your Opinions, Feb 8):

Greg Conte, in defending the decision to remove Saddam in Iraq, says, ``What about those 300,000 buried in shallow graves? I have found that the people who use this as justification for the war are also against any attempt at health care reform. They often say, who said health insurance is a right?''

It seems to me these folks care more about the unfortunate citizens of Iraq than they do about their fellow American citizens who can't afford basic health care, let alone health insurance premiums. The $150 billion we are spending in Iraq could help low-income people with some of that load.

Threat to national security

Re ``Is salsa world's savior?'' (Viewpoint, Feb. 8):

Mariel Garza is right about music being a way of bringing people together. Too bad the Bush administration apparently doesn't think so. Notice no Ibrahim at the Grammys. Nor Barbarito. Nor Amadito. In fact, no Cuban Grammy nominees were allowed to attend, so no winner for the best traditional tropical Latin album was present.

The Bush administration thinks these musicians are a threat to national security? Probably Carl Rove thinks Republicans will pick up a few more Cuban American A Cuban American is a United States citizen who traces his or her ancestry to Cuba. But the Bush strategy might backfire as many Cuban Americans want to punish Castro - not the Cuban people. Why punish these old Cuban musicians for what Fidel did?

Report card unnecessary

Re ``Quality of life erodes'' (Feb. 6):

Do we really need a ``report card'' to tell us that Southern California's quality of life is deteriorating, and doing so very quickly? Do we need an agency to tell us that in our population, ``homegrown births accounted for half of the new residents, and foreign immigrants accounted for 41 percent of the increase?''

This is an agency that doesn't even mention illegal immigration and their birth rate, or its overcrowding overcrowding

The fat diet

Re ``Quality of life erodes'' (Feb. 6):

Southern California Association of Governments keeps giving us a failing quality-of-life grade and they keep pointing to immigration-driven population growth as the primary cause, and city and state officials keep talking about ``smart growth.'' They're just like the fat lady who sits down to a 12-course double-sized meal and drinks diet cola to ``cut down on calories.''

That lady is going to stay fat, and our quality of life will continue to fall with each decade's 6 million population growth. One-half of our growth is births - mostly to immigrants, and 41 percent is due to immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important. . If the fat lady doesn't cut her portions, she will become another grim statistic for overconsumption, and so will our state.

Nobody was looking

Re ``Crude awakening'' (Feb. 7):

There are a lot of folks who can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in America. Well, there's a very simple answer ... nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low. The reason for that is purely geographic. All our oil is in Alaska, Texas, California and Oklahoma. All our dipsticks dipsticks

NoHo proposal

Re ``NoHo proposal: The arts come first'' (Jan. 31):

What percentage of the population goes to the theater or wanders around art exhibits? Somewhere someone must have done a study. The number has to be a good deal less than would be attracted by a sports arena such as the Oasis, also featuring concerts and other forms of entertainment.

Drugs and the elderly

Re ``Costly drugs taxing seniors'' (Jan. 25):

The Daily News feature article on drug costs for the elderly made me sad that so many seniors are totally reliant on their doctors for prescriptions and medical advice. They rarely are made aware of nutritional alternatives to drugs. I am an engineer, not a doctor, and have studied hundreds of the Daily News and other articles over the years that have extolled the virtues of nutritional supplementation over drug use.

What many of these seniors really need is drug counseling. High-quality nutrients under the care of reputable nutritional counselor can be a viable alternative for many seniors. Libraries, neighbors and the Internet are some ways to learn more about nutritional alternatives. The average of 15 drugs per senior citizen is absurd.

Too much fuss

It seems to me that people are making too much of a fuss over the debts that our government has. Our budget problems would disappear overnight if we would just print more money.
