PUBLIC FORUM : HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA FIRST RATE.

On April 11, my husband and I and another couple went to the theater - we didn't go to the Shubert Theater to see ``Ragtime ragtime: see jazz.

,'' we didn't go to the Ahmanson to see ``Showboat showboat. In the early 19th cent. entertainment was brought by boat to the pioneers that settled along the western rivers (especially the Mississippi and Ohio) of the United States. At first companies only traveled by boat, performing on land. ,'' we didn't go to the Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. We saw a colossal, fantastic, first-class musical, ``42nd Street.''

I had not been aware of how much advancement the drama department at OPHS OPHS Office of Public Health and Science

OPHS Orchard Park High School (Orchard Park, New York, USA)
OPHS Osbourn Park High School (Virginia)
had made in this area - the sets, costumes, student performers, musical contributors, those who worked behind the scenes. The show was A-plus. On a scale of one to 10, I would give the performance a 15.

I would not attempt to name any individuals because if you were there and you have the beautiful, printed program (a work of art), you will know that there were many, many individuals involved in this fine performance.

If the Opie Award were to be given out locally, I would say, ``the envelope please,'' and with a smile I would announce the award goes to Oak Park High School's performance of ``42nd Street.''

The performance took place in the gymnasium, and it was beautifully done: lighting, acoustics, dance floor, change of scenery, etc. But the time has come for a professional place to perform on the high school campus.

For those in the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. Over the past 14 months, more than $20,000 has been raised toward this goal.

From my ``architectural knowledge,'' I would estimate we need approximately $1 million to bring our dream to fruition. Be a part of the Support the Christopher Ruhle Performing Arts Memorial Fund.
