PALMDALE - Delta Scientific, the leading manufacturer of counterterrorist vehicle control systems around the globe, has installed its barriers at British embassies in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Colombia, the Czech Republic and Kosovo.

Delta Scientific, headquartered in Valencia with its manufacturing plant in Palmdale, also supplies barriers, bollards and other counterterrorist barricade systems to additional British embassies as well as over 160 U.S. embassies and consulates in 130-plus countries.

``Delta Scientific bollards and barriers are increasingly relied upon worldwide to protect personnel and property at high-profile locations such as embassies, which are often targeted by terrorists,'' said Scott Altizer, high security systems applications engineer at Delta Scientific. ``That's because our barriers and bollards are designed to take an extraordinary hit and still stop an attacking vehicle in its tracks.''

Delta systems meet or exceed U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense certification standards. Delta's permanent vehicle barricades range from surface-mounted and shallow-foundation solutions to cable beam barricades and raising steps for parking lots. They include both high-security and very-high-security models, and can stop a vehicle weighing up to 7.5 tons going up to 50 mph.

Delta's portable crash-rated barriers and barricades were first used successfully to protect NATO troops in Kosovo and elsewhere. These quick deployment, modular, portable solutions can be rapidly set up on existing concrete or asphalt roads, level compacted soils and other hard surfaces. Even without excavation or subsurface preparation, they can thwart a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling up to 30 mph.

The Department of State uses Delta's portable barriers to protect embassies in locations where permanent barricades are not feasible because of infrastructure concerns, such as pipes and electrical lines close to the street surface.

In the United States alone, more than 110 federal buildings, including courthouses and FBI locations, use Delta's antiterrorist systems.

Delta's three product lines consist of high-security vehicle barricade systems, parking control equipment and guard booths. Delta Scientific has been engineering and manufacturing vehicle access control equipment since 1974 and sells its products worldwide.
