The winner of the International Association of Culinary Professionals' best cookbook of the year award is ``Rick Bayless's Mexican Kitchen''

It was announced last week at the IACP's 19th annual conference in Chicago. The book was written by Bayless with his wife, Deann Groen Bayless, and Chicago food writer JeanMarie Brownson. The Baylesses are the owners of Chicago's popular Frontera Grill Frontera Grill is a gourmet Mexican restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. It is owned by Rick Bayless. It opened in March 1987 and is located at 445 N. Clark Street in Chicago's River North neighborhood. It offers a menu of traditional and contemporary Mexican dishes, updated monthly.  and Topolobampo restaurants.

Awards were also presented to the top books in each of 11 categories.

Nora Pouillon, chef and owner of Restaurant Nora and Asia Nora in Washington, D.C., won chef of the year. The winner of the lifetime achievement award was Ingrid Espelig Hovig, cookbook author, food writer and TV personality in Norway.
