to Drive Ambitious, Enterprise-Wide Patient-Safety Initiative

Atlanta-based PROMINA Health System, Georgia's largest not-for-profit healthcare system, and Eclipsys Corporation(R) (Nasdaq:ECLP), The Outcomes Company(R), today announced that PROMINA has selected Eclipsys' industry-leading Sunrise(TM) Clinical Manager solution featuring Knowledge-Based Orders(TM) as the foundation for the organization's comprehensive, enterprise-wide patient-safety initiative. Clinical Manager also will play a central role in PROMINA's effort to fully integrate clinical information from disparate systems throughout the organization.

PROMINA Health System, which comprises more than 2,000 metropolitan Atlanta-area physicians and seven acute-care hospitals -- Piedmont Hospital Piedmont Hospital is a major hospital in northeast Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in 1905, and is in the Buckhead area on Peachtree Road at Collier Road.

It is optimized to allow clinicians to retrieve data for a single patient rather than to identify a population of  features throughout its affiliated hospitals, providing its physicians with access to comprehensive electronic patient data and medical records both in those facilities and across its far-ranging health network.

"After an extensive investigation and evaluation of competing clinical information systems offered by the leading HIT vendors, PROMINA chose Eclipsys and its Sunrise Clinical Manager solution to serve as the foundation of a comprehensive, computerized physician order-entry and patient-records system that will span all seven of our affiliated hospitals," said Shyam Heda, PROMINA'S chief information officer. "We believe that Clinical Manager's Knowledge-Based Orders feature, integrated electronic data repository See repository.  and clinical-documentation capabilities will provide our physicians and other clinicians with the tools they need to reduce avoidable medical errors and improve both the efficiency and quality of patient care."
