PROGRESS IN PARK OPENING OF OFFICES AND WAREHOUSE CELEBRATED.

Byline: Daily News

LANCASTER - City officials joined businessman Arnie Rodio Jr. and civic leaders recently to celebrate the opening of a 62,000-square-foot warehouse and office building.

Built by Rodio, who is the son of a former mayor, the building represents new capital investment in Lancaster's enterprise zone and business park, officials said.

``We had all of the industrial space in the building leased before the structure was even completed,'' said Chuck Hoey of CB Richard Ellis CB Richard Ellis Group, Inc. On December 20, 2006, the corporation, also known as CBRE, completed acquisition of Trammell Crow Co. in a transaction valued at $2.  Commercial Real Estate.

The business park was partly financed by the city, starting more than two decades ago to help reduce the Antelope Valley's economic dependence on the boom-and-bust aircraft industry.

A half-dozen companies are building or expanding in the business park, officials said. Of the acreage the city owns, all but one lot have been sold.

``There were council members (who) felt this was a loser, that we would never make anything out of it,'' Mayor Frank Roberts Frank Roberts may refer to:

The remaining 2.19-acre lot is at the business park's main entrance, on Avenue L at Business Center Drive.

``That's kind of the flagship lot for the park,'' said Vern Lawson Jr. who markets the business park for the city.
