PRINTING ERROR IN HUNTING BOOKLET NOTED

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Contrary to a descriptive passage in the "1993 California Hunting Regulations" Department of Fish and Game booklet for resident and migratory game birds, the opening of Canada geese hunting season in the Northern San Joaquin Valley Special Canada Goose Closure Area actually starts on the fifth Saturday in October -- not the fourth Saturday, as stated -- and closes on Nov. 22, 1993.
The area is within the Balance of the State Zone and all other regulations pertaining to the take of Canada geese are the same.
"The mistake occurred during the printing process of the publication and was not caught because the printer failed to run a final draft by us for review," said Becky Miller of the Fish and Game Commission. "The text portion of the regulation booklet erroneously describes the opening date for hunting Canada geese in the Northern San Joaquin Valley Special Canada Goose Closure Area as being the 'fourth Saturday in October,' but the season there actually opens on the fifth Saturday of that month, which is Oct. 30."
