PRIME MEDICAL SERVICES ANNOUNCES RESULTS FOR THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1993

AUSTIN, Texas, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Prime Medical Service, Inc. (NASDAQ: PMSI) today announced results for the three months ended March 31, 1993.
Net income increased 241 percent to $403,000, or $0.04 per share, from $118,000, or $0.01 per share, for the three months ended March 31, 1992. Revenues for the three months ended March 31, 1993, increased 48 percent to $4,912,000 from $3,325,000 for the same period during 1992.
Jackie Majors, president of Prime Medical, stated, "The substantial improvement in the financial results for the first quarter of 1993 from the previous year is primarily due to our entry into the lithotripsy business in April 1992. Lithotripters have emerged as a safe and cost effective way of treating patients with kidney stones in this country and our decision to expand into this promising business lays the groundwork for continued growth in what is clearly a new environment for healthcare management companies. This month, we announced an agreement to acquire interests in three additional lithotripters. We look forward to the completion of this and a previously announced acquisition which would add a total of seven lithotripter facilities servicing 11 states."
Prime Medical Services, Inc. currently provides non-medical management services to lithotripsy, diagnostic imaging and cardiac rehabilitation centers in 11 states.
