PRESTON 0 GRIMSBY 0.

THERE was little festive cheer for two sides looking for three points for different reasons.

And with a hatful of goal chances going begging the game took on something of a pantomime appearance.

Preston showed plenty of domination but lacked the final touch, as demonstrated when they enjoyed two chances within a couple of minutes through Mark Rankine and Chris Lucketti's thundering header.

Near the end Simon Ford was denied a winner by the legs of Preston keeper David Lucas.
