PRESTIGE FILMS' 'THE REFLECTING SKIN' WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY PHILIP RIDLEY BEGINS EXCLUSIVE ENGAGEMENT AT NUART THEATER DEC. 18
HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Prestige's "The Reflecting Skin," written and directed by Philip Ridley, and starring Viggo Mortensen, Lindsay Duncan and Jeremy Cooper, begins an exclusive Los Angeles engagement at Landmark's Nuart Theater on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
"The Reflecting Skin" is a journey through the disturbing nightmare of childhood. Set in an isolated prairie community in the 1950s, the film depicts a harsh adult world of violence, pain and passion as seen through the eyes of eight-year-old Seth Dove (Cooper). Seth attempts to understand the mysteries of sex, sin and death but his interpretation of seemingly irrational adult behavior inevitably leads to tragedy. David Sterritt of The Christian Science Monitor called the film "bold and inventive filmmaking" and Rolling Stone's Peter Travers called Ridley "a visionary ... his haunting film exerts a hypnotic pull."
"The Reflecting Skin" marks the directorial debut of British writer Ridley who also wrote "The Krays." "The Reflecting Skin" has won 11 prizes from a variety of international film festivals, including those held in Stockholm, Sitges, Birmingham and Locarno, where it won the coveted Silver Leopold award. Producers are Dominic Anciano and Ray Burdis. Co-producer is Di Roberts.
