Light selected for Pro Bowl
Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light has been selected to his first career Pro Bowl, chosen to replace injured Ravens tackle Jonathan Ogden. He is the first Patriots offensive lineman to earn an All-Star selection since center Damien Woody following the 2002 season and is the first Patriots offensive tackle to head to Hawaii since Bruce Armstrong following the 1997 season. The Pro Bowl will be played on Saturday. Coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots staff will coach the AFC squad.
The New England Surge of the Continental Indoor Football League made three appointments. South High coach Jerry Snay will coach the Surge offensive and defensive linemen, Dennis Faulkner, president of the semipro Worcester County Wildcats, will oversee player personnel, and Christina Andrianopoulos will be the team's director of community relations.
Boston College named Jeff Comissiong (defensive line) and Ben Sirmans (running backs) as assistants under new coach Jeff Jagodzinski.
