It was tough for Granada Hills girls' soccer coach Lynda Firtsche to choose the winner of the ``Hard Hat Award'' after her team beat host El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

Eventually, the award, which goes to the player of the game, was given to freshman defender Patrice Goodwin for her protection of Kandice McLaughlin, the Conquistadores' leading scorer. But the victory itself, which came against the returning City Section champion, gave each member of the team a sense of honor As a verb, to accept a bill of exchange, or to pay a note, check, or accepted bill, at maturity. ``I have respect for El Camino Real every time we play them,'' said sophomore forward Katie Deever, whose 24th goal of the season midway Midway, island group (2 sq mi/5.2 sq km), central Pacific, c.1,150 mi (1,850 km) NW of Honolulu, comprising Sand and Eastern islands with the surrounding atoll. I am just glad we were able to win this one.''

For Granada Hills (14-2-1, 5-1), the victory avenges a sour 2-1 loss to the Conquistadores (10-2-1, 4-2) in the season opener.

Meanwhile, El Camino Real fell a game behind first place after suffering back-to-back losses - it lost to Chatsworth on Wednesday after beginning the week in with a one-game lead in league.

The match, which saw three lead changes, featured Granada Hills' stingy stin·gy

The Conquistadores, who along with Atascadero is the only team to score more than one goal in matches against Granada Hills this season, saw even tighter defense as Deever dropped from forward to defender to lead a six-player wall.
