PREP ROUNDUP: SESSION LEADS EAGLE ROCK TO SHUTOUT VICTORY.

Junior quarterback Torwin Session threw for four touchdowns and added a 9-yard scoring run to lead host Eagle Rock High to a 49-0 win over Lincoln in a Northern League game Saturday afternoon.

Session completed 9 of 14 passes for 232 yards and had TD passes of 20, 13, 61 and 32 yards. The 32-yard pass to Jorge Trejo (five receptions for 161 yards) was Session's 25th of the season, breaking the school's single-season record of 24 set by current Eagles head coach Steve Wahl in 1968.

Steven Jovanelly touched the ball only twice and scored twice - on a 20-yard pass and 45-yard run. Tyrone Collins led Eagle Rock rushing with 59 yards and Nick Valencia had 34 yards rushing.

Eagle Rock (7-0, 2-0) got its second shutout of the season, holding the Tigers (0-7, 0-2) to 36 yards in total offense, including minus-3 yards rushing. The victory sets up a Friday showdown with rival Franklin in a game that will likely determine the Northern League championship. The game will be played at Franklin for the first time in more than 40 years.

Chaminade 21, Harvard-Westlake 7: Dennis Mikulich broke a 7-7 tie on a 3-yard touchdown run 25 seconds into the fourth quarter as the Eagles (5-2) earned their fifth consecutive win and handed the host Wolverines their fourth straight loss.

Mikulich (82 yards on 24 carries) scored the game's final points on an 8-yard run with 30 seconds left, his 10th TD of the season.

Harvard-Westlake (3-4) took a 7-0 first-quarter lead on an 82-yard flea-flicker from Lerato Simelane (104 yards on 24 carries) to Richard Nicholson. Chaminade's Jon Palacios (146 yards passing, 36 rushing) answered with a 9-yard TD run halfway through the second quarter.

Kaiser 44, St. Genevieve 8: The Cats (7-1) intercepted the Valiants (1-6) eight times and got 169 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Mark Marquez in a nonleague matchup at Birmingham High.

Clayton, who finished with 55 yards receiving and 43 yards rushing, scored on a 10-yard run, a 26-yard touchdown pass and a 21-yard interception return.

Quarterback Julio Bautista threw for 112 yards and three touchdowns on 6 of 8 passing while Jeremy Lopez and Melvin Johnson Melvin Maynard Johnson Jr. (August 1909 – 1965) was an American designer of firearms, lawyer and Marine Corps officer.
