Quartz Hill junior Katie Dilger shot a 78, and Lancaster's Amber Frauhiger shot a 100. ``For a girl to go from being our No. 4 golfer last year to (the Southern Section championships), that's a huge accomplishment,'' Quartz Hill coach Stu Manthey said. Friga finished strong, shooting 1-under-par over her final five holes, including shooting a birdie on the last hole. Friga had shot bogies on her previous four holes before her late run. Her performance Monday typified the progression of her career. ``More than anything it's been her mental game that's developed, especially in the last few weeks,'' Manthey said. ``I was just really proud of the way she sees battle. It just seemed like she refocused the rest of the way.'' Friga is among 90 golfers who will compete in Thursday's Southern Section final, of which 28 advance to Monday's Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region, individual championships at the Southern California Golf Association's Members Course in Murrieta. The state meet will start Nov. 15. Friga hopes to be Quartz Hill's first Southern California championship qualifier qual·i·fi·er n. 1.
