PREP BASKETBALL: EAGLES COULD BE BETTER : A.V. CHRISTIAN IS EXPERIENCED.

Byline: Julio Cortez Staff Writer

Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The Antelope Valley
Christian finished last season with a record of 21-4 while winning the Golden League and losing to Price in the Southern Section Division V championship game.

It could get even better this year.

Head coach David Nurse has all but one of his players from last year returning. Only Scott Hannah, who will be attending Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  during the fall, left.

And four of them received postseason honors. Seniors Matthew Nurse and Peter Beaudin were selected last season to the first and second All-Southern Section teams, respectively. Juniors Jamal Flanagan and John Cho were named to the all-league team.

The team also has added Flanagan's cousin, Orlando Flanagan, a 5-foot-10 junior who is expected to help the team with his outside shooting. He recently won a 3-point-shooting competition held during the pregame activities of an Antelope Valley College game. He beat out such top Golden League shooters as Bradley Chelette and David Walker David Walker may refer to:

of Quartz Hill and Glen Jones of Paraclete. Chelette, Walker and Jones have all graduated from high school.

The Eagles will receive an early test when they take part in the Pump Discovery Camp July 20-26 at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The team will play its games late in the evening and will drive to Cal State Dominguez each day because several squad members have to attend summer school.

A.V. Christian has already taken part in the Westmont tournament and the High Five tournament in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. Sharing stars: Palmdale coach Garry Phelps is concerned: His only three seniors returning from last year are focused on football at the moment.

Lucky for Phelps, the track and field team doesn't hold workouts in the summer. Otherwise, he would be forced to share Furlow, Morse and Holmes with that team as well.

In track, Holmes won the Golden League high jump title. His best mark was 6-10 at the Arcadia Invitational. Morse won the 100-meter title and was second in the 200 in the Golden League.

Erick Brown is the only returning player who isn't on the football team. The 5-10 guard was named to the All-Golden League first team last year.

Sophomores lead: Antelope Valley coach Dennis Smith Dennis Smith may refer to:

Brisco is the only returning starter from the league's fourth-place team.

However, Marrion Garrett and Trici Colins are also coming back. Garrett, a 6-1 forward, is the team's best defensive player, according to according to
