The Pioneers have won nine in a row, overcoming deficits of at least five runs in the past two league games.

``No matter what the score is, we're never thinking we're going to lose,'' Ampe said. ``That's just our team.''

Arisohn's second hit of the game produced three runs and he scored the tying run later in the seventh inning. After Westlake regained the lead in the eighth, Moscatello finished a 4-for-4 day by singling in the tying run in the bottom half of the inning before Ampe ended the game with a bases-loaded drive to left field.

The victory moves the Pioneers (13-8, 4-3) within a game of first-place Moorpark, and two-time defending league champion Westlake (13-7, 5-3) dropped out of first.

Last week, Simi Valley overcame an eight-run deficit against Newbury Park.

``We never give up,'' Moscatello said. ``We're confident. We just go out there and keep coming back.''

Westlake had led since the second inning when Cody Cipriano's grand slam grand slam

Simi Valley rallied with the aid of Westlake mistakes. Mike Astorino was hit by a pitch to load the bases and chase Westlake starter Tyler Carr CARR Carrier

``Now that the bats are going, the pitchers are keeping us in games and it's a different guy coming through each game,'' Simi Valley coach Joe Gordon
