PREBON LAUNCHES GLOBAL BROKING SYSTEM INITIATIVE.

BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), San Jose, Calif., application infrastructure software company, has announced that Prebon Yamane has selected BEA WebLogic Platform to provide the application infrastructure software foundation for its Global Broking System, a straight-through processing application. The Global Broking System initiative, which is one of Prebon's largest information technology projects to date, has been launched in London and New York, and is scheduled to be followed by a worldwide rollout to more than 20 other offices.

The Global Broking System is designed to automate in excess of 5,000 daily trades, and can make real-time transactions a reality while helping to improve Prebon's customer relationships around the globe. It can also provide benefits internally, and is designed to improve efficiency in the back office and help provide the ability to share information across the whole organization.

As part of the BEA WebLogic Platform, BEA WebLogic Server(TM) combines with Persistence Software's EdgeXtend caching software and Oracle databases and can enable the company's users worldwide to have fast, simultaneous access to information though the synchronization of cached object data across geographically dispersed servers.
