PPI Applauds the work of two agronomic scientists. (FYI News & Notes).


The Potash & Phosphate Institute (PPI), Norcross, Ga., presented the 2002-2003 Robert E. Wagner award to two agronomic scientists. Dr. John L. Havlin, professor and head of the Department of Soil Science, North Carolina State University, was honored in the senior scientist category. Dr. Newell R. Kitchen, soil scientist with the USDA-ARS, Cropping Systems and Water Quality Research Unit, received the award for the young scientist division. Each recipient receives $5,000 as part of the award, which is designed to recognize distinguished contributions to advanced crop yields through maximum yield research and maximum economic yield management.
