POWERBUILDER TO SUPPORT MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 6.0 AT GENERAL AVAILABILITY; Support Optimized to Leverage SQL Server 6.0's New and Enhanced Feature Set.


SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 1995--Powersoft Corporation announced today at DB/Expo that the PowerBuilder family of scalable client/server development tools will support Microsoft(r) SQL Server An earlier relational DBMS from Sybase and from Microsoft. Sybase introduced SQL Server in 1988 for various Unix versions. In that same year, with help from IBM, Sybase created an OS/2 version that Microsoft licensed and branded as Microsoft SQL Server. (TM) 6.0 at its general availability release. Powersoft will provide a native interface and ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity) A database programming interface from Microsoft that provides a common language for Windows applications to access databases on a network.  support for Microsoft SQL Server A relational DBMS from Microsoft that is a major component of the Windows Server System. It is Microsoft's high-end client/server database and is closely integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft Office System.  6.0, optimized for PowerBuilder users to leverage Microsoft SQL Server 6.0's new and enhanced feature set, including enhanced scrollable cursors, programmability with Transact SQL SQL
