Byline: Nicholas Grudin Staff Writer

GLENDALE - For the second day in a row, problems at a Glendale power station Tuesday left parts of the city without electricity - and air conditioning air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. Tuesday's outage, which started about 9 a.m., lasted for more than three hours in some areas on a day when temperatures approached triple digits in Glendale.

Bill Hall, the city's electrical services administrator, blamed a combination of factors for the outages.

``We've been having some problems at this particular substation,'' Hall said. ``A transformer went down Monday night, and that was compounded by the heat and use of air conditioners Tuesday.''

Hall does not expect further problems.

``The potential is there for this to happen again, but we don't think it's likely,'' he said.

Other schools affected were Keppel and Jefferson elementary schools Jefferson Elementary School can refer to the following schools:

  • Jefferson Elementary School (Washington), in Spokane
, which are on a year-round schedule and were in session at the time of the outage. Both schools carried on despite the outage, Ching said.

The power was out roughly from Kenneth Road in the north, to the south Glendale border and from Kenilorth Avenue in the east to Western Avenue.
