POWER OF THE PEN IS EVEN GREATER IN HIGH-TECH AGE; NEW PEN LINE IS BADGE OF PERSONALIZED EXECUTIVE AUTHORITY

JANESVILLE, Wis., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Because, in a high tech age the traditional penned note has come to speak with such great authority, a new pen has been so well crafted it might justify a sonnet.
In fact, one of the world's top pen makers, Parker Pen, is introducing a new line of pens and pencils for the executive, the professional or the discerning individual called the Sonnet Collection.
"These days, a quality writing instrument is much more than a badge of taste, authority and even power," says Bob Walker, marketing director, Parker Pen USA Ltd., who was instrumental in the design of the new line of fountain, roller and ballpoint pens and pencils (priced from $60 to $250). "Our research indicates that handwritten notes, letters and envelopes get more and faster attention in these times when computers dominate general business communications."
Walker, who writes notes to his staff with the sterling silver top-of-the-line Sonnet fountain pen, says a personal, hand-written note from the boss can be an exceptional way to motivate an employee.
"It says the boss took the time to do it personally, to write it by hand," says Walker. "A hard-won note of praise, penned with care and style, means far, far more than a terse message in your computer E-mail, or worse yet, recorded on your voice mail."
But the manner in which the treasured note is written means as much, Walker says.
"One's penmanship says a lot," he says. "And this is where a quality writing instrument can help. Its flawless performance makes for far better script. First class ergonomics in the design enable the writer to perform with flair, symmetry and precision."
The new Sonnet line, Parker's fourth major product line introduced since 1988, can make a statement of personality as well as status.
The Sonnet fountain pen is available in sterling silver, 23K gold plate, or silver plate, one finished in the ancient art of Chinese lacquering and three others in lacque. Each is available with matching roller ball, ball pen and pencil. All are trimmed in 23k gold plate.
As with other Parker fountain pens, the Sonnet can be filled with bottled ink or ink cartridges.
The 105-year-old Parker Pen Company provides each model with an unconditional guarantee throughout the life of the original owner.
