POWER FAILURE HITS 2,600 HOMES.

Byline: Daily News Staff

A failure in an underground circuit knocked out electricity to about 2,600 Santa Clarita homes Sunday, according to a Southern California Edison spokesman.

The blackout occurred about 11:40 a.m., affecting customers living near Tournament Road, between Valencia Boulevard and Wiley Canyon Road, SCE spokesman Steven Conroy said.

Crews restored power to about 90 percent of those customers by about 2 p.m. and expected to have the lights back on in most homes before nightfall, Conroy said.
