POTATO BOWL: MOORPARK FINDS APPEAL IN SLICING POTATO BOWL FOE MOORPARK 55, PASADENA 28.

Byline: Ryan Schuster Special to the Daily News

BAKERSFIELD - Even Moorpark College coach Jim Bittner was surprised by the score.

Moorpark crushed a strong Pasadena City College team 55-28 in the Shrine Potato Bowl on Saturday in front of 1,416 at Memorial Stadium.

It was the highest-scoring game in Potato Bowl history.

``I really had great respect for their team,'' Bittner said of Pasadena. ``Their last few games they scored 45 points on everybody. So I was scared to death we wouldn't be able to keep up with them. I knew that we could score on them. But I didn't know if we could score as many as they did.''

Pasadena (8-3) has given up 50 points or more in all three of its losses this season.
