POSSIS CORPORATION ANNOUNCES DEATH OF CHAIRMAN AND PRESIDENT, ZINON (CHRIS) POSSIS

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Possis Corporation (NASDAQ: POSS) announced today that its chairman and president, Zinon (Chris) Possis, died early Saturday morning at North Memorial Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was 70 years old.
Earlier in the week, Possis relinquished his duties as chief executive officer and the executive committee of Possis Corporation's board of directors appointed Robert G. Dutcher acting CEO. Dutcher, a former Medtronic, Inc. research and development manager, was hired by Possis in 1985 to lead the company's subsidiary, Possis Medical, Inc., toward becoming a major medical device company. He became president of Possis Medical, Inc. in 1987 and was elected executive vice president of the parent company in 1993.
Possis intended to retire by the end of calendar 1993 after completing the disposition of the company's remaining nonmedical subsidiary, Jet Edge, Inc., thereby fulfilling a 1990 board decision to focus on medical products.
The Possis Corporation board will meet as scheduled on Thursday to finalize management and board responsibilities.
