PORT HUENEME WOMAN ARRESTED IN DISAPPEARANCE CASE.

It has an artificial deep-sea harbor and is the site of a huge naval construction-battalion (Seabee) center.  woman has been arrested in the disappearance of a woman believed slain since she was last seen more than two weeks ago in a shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  parking lot, Ventura police said Tuesday.

Diana Haun, 35, was arrested Saturday and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of kidnapping kidnapping, in law, the taking away of a person by force, threat, or deceit, with intent to cause him to be detained against his will. Kidnapping may be done for ransom or for political or other purposes.  and homicide, officials said.

She is believed linked to the death of Sherri Renee Dally, also 35 and of Port Hueneme, who was last seen May 6 outside the Target store on East Main Street. Witnesses told police Dally was sitting in her van speaking with a woman, then got into the woman's car and drove away.

Investigators labeled the case an ``unusual disappearance'' when Dally was reported missing. They would not comment on why Dally is now considered the victim of a kidnapping and homicide. Her body has not been found.

More arrests are possible, said Lt. Carl Handy, of the Ventura Police Department.

Witnesses told police Dally was seen walking to her car outside the Target store about 9:30 a.m., carrying items purchased at the store.

A car pulled behind her van, blocking it. The female driver approached Dally, the two women talked, and Dally then walked to the car and entered a rear passenger door.

Investigators served search warrants at homes in Ventura and Port Hueneme on Saturday, leading to the arrest of Haun.
