Oscar Bellfield didn't expect much. All he wanted was an opportunity to play point guard.

Developing into a floor leader, a distributor and a facilitator has been the goal since day one.

And he's finally getting his chance. The 6-foot-2 junior transferred from Taft of Woodland Hills to Westchester over the summer and quickly emerged as the man in charge of running the offense. "Oscar is Oscar I, 1799–1859, king of Sweden and Norway (1844–59), son and successor of Charles XIV. His reign was one of social and economic advance. Senior standout DJ Gay struggled against the second-seeded Comets (23-5) and finished with 24 points on 8-of-33 shooting.

"If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that we'd be one victory away from playing in the finals, I would've told you that you're crazy," Poly coach Brad Katz said.

"DJ and the rest of the guys have nothing to be ashamed of. They can hold their heads as high as anyone else in the City."
