The City Directory is a community fact book, a buyer's guide, an advertiser's tool and a valuable resource for resident information. The Directory is made up of four sections: a buyer's guide, listing advertising for local businesses; an alphabetical listing of residents along with their addresses, places of employment, occupations and telephone numbers; an alphabetical street guide; and a numerical telephone listing. The division has also released two new products: a computerized version of its city directory called InfoTYME, and a Cross Reference directory with broad geographic coverage and a demographic summary of the communities covered.

The City Directory Division is one of the most exciting aspects of Polk," said Jim Hornbuckle, Vice President and City Directory General Manager. "These changes have been implemented to match future and existing needs of our customers with the talents of our staff. The new organizational structure is a win-win for everyone."

In addition to the Chamber of Commerce Office, copies of the Polk directory are placed in the public library, emergency services headquarters and medical facilities. They are also purchased by businesses and professional and charitable organizations.

The City Directory Division publishes more than 1,000 city directories covering some 6,500 communities in the United States and Canada. The directories contain information gathered from approximately 30 million interviews conducted annually door-to-door and through follow-up telephone interviews.

Polk is a privately held firm founded in Detroit in 1870. Polk serves the information needs of companies around the world as a direct marketing resource; a supplier of demographic and lifestyle data and database marketing services; a statistician for the motor vehicle industry; publisher of city directories; a provider of geographic information systems; and one of the world's largest manufacturers of advertising specialties. Polk employs more than 3,000 people in facilities around the world including the United States, England, Germany, Australia and Barbados.
