POLICE SHOOT, INJURE ROBBERY SUSPECT.Byline: Jason Kandel Staff Writer Police shot and injured a robbery suspect and arrested two accomplices early Monday after a botched takeover-style robbery at a North Hollywood drugstore. The armed suspects, who were not identified, rushed into the Drug Emporium, 6030 Lankershim Blvd., about 6 a.m., grabbed cash and were about to get away when police arrived. One gunman refused to drop his weapon and police fired three shots at him, grazing his arm, police said. He was treated for his wound at a nearby hospital and was booked on suspicion of robbery. Police quickly arrested a second man and later arrested a teenage boy who was found hiding inside a locker. Both directions of Lankershim were shut down for several hours as investigators from the Force Investigation Division probed the officer-involved shooting. North Hollywood robbery detectives were trying to determine whether the suspects were connected to at least two other recent robberies in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call North Hollywood detectives at (818) 623-4075. Jason Kandel, (818) 713-3664 jason.kandel(at)dailynews.com |
