POLICE ARREST FUGITIVE; SUSPECT HAD BEEN SOUGHT FOR 4 YEARS IN SANTA CLARITA ROBBERIES.

One of Santa Clarita's most wanted Most Wanted may refer to:

 fugitives was captured early Friday by Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police detectives after four years on the lam, authorities said.

Thomas Allen Thomas Allen may refer to:

 Pitchford, 33, who had been wanted since 1994 in connection with a string of commercial robberies and grand theft of firearms, was arrested on suspicion of narcotics narcotics n. 1) techinically, drugs which dull the senses. 2) a popular generic term for drugs which cannot be legally possessed, sold, or transported except for medicinal uses for which a physician or dentist's prescription is required.  possession in the early morning hours.

 said Pitchford initially was arrested after giving false information to an officer from the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Division in Northridge.

``It is unclear why he was questioned and what the false information was,'' Anderson said. ``But once he was arrested and in custody, the officers found narcotics on him.''

After running a computer check on Pitchford, detectives found out the man was wanted in Santa Clarita.

Authorities said Pitchford's capture was good news to them.

``He was one of our most wanted fugitives and he is now in custody,'' said Lt. Tim Peters of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Santa Clarita station.

According to sheriff's officials, Pitchford, whose last known address was in Saugus, had been wanted in Santa Clarita on several warrants.

Pitchford is expected to be arraigned on the narcotics charges Monday in Los Angeles, and Anderson said sheriff's detectives will then seek to question him before scheduling another appearance in Newhall Municipal Court on the outstanding warrants.
