POETRY PRIZE LEAVES BOY SPEECHLESS : STUDENTS WRITE ODES FOR SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.Byline: Enrique Rivero Daily News Staff Writer Words failed Andreas Meyer when he learned he was a grand-prize winner at Maple Elementary School's 25th anniversary Poetry Contest. Andreas was one of two grand-prize winners at the contest celebrating the school's 25th birthday. Along with fellow grand-prize winner Matthew Price Matthew Price is a British journalist who currently works as a Middle East correspondent for the BBC. He began his career in 1994 as a trainee local radio reporter. In 1999 he moved on to report for the BBC's news programme for children, Newsround. and 10 first-place winners, the youngster will read his poem during today's Family Day carnival at the school, said event chairman Judy Knauer. ``The winners will read their poems, then they will all be on display - all 145 of them,'' Knauer said. Knauer thought of the contest in December as a way to get the youngsters more actively involved in the celebration and to get them to express their school spirit. ``And poetry has been kind of on the upswing lately - it's been very popular,'' she said.
